Fear

Many seeking God

Would long ago have found Him,

Were they in their deep despair

Not bound by fear.

Always they have heard talk

Of the ‘avenger’ of all sins,

And know they are burdened

With the damage of sin.

They believe that they are lost

And born for ruin.

They fear they are judged

By the One who sees all.

Thus the poor souls only plead

For ‘mercy’ for themselves,

And lack the courage to raise

Themselves to live in God.

The curse of fear must first go

Before they will one day find:

Him who is Love itself

And keeps all who love in mind…
